Alice is an Astronaut

So last night the Plastic Kitchen played at Cilla's nephew's 21st. Happy Birthday James. The theme was Dress to Impess, and you can be damn sure that the PK were dressed to impress. and we sounded damn good too, playing our rockiest set ever (think all the rocky movies, except for the new one combined into one big rockfest). crowd favourites were Alice is an Astronaut and Bish's cover of I Wanna Be Sedated.

so we played our set and drank some beer and then Cindy and i walked down the hill with barman James (a different James). Now i'm no psychologist, but wow James is crazy, in the best possible way. chasing after cars, scaring them with his apelike hollers and his bare knees. and best of all opening up his bag and pulling out a bottle of tequilla. sweet sweet tequilla...

Bain Idol

So they've announced they're going to retry David Bain for the murders 13 years ago. i really don't have strong opinions about whether he's guilty or innocent because i haven't really heard the evidence. but its interesting that the people who maintain he's innocent are so adamant that he shouldn't go to trial. good to hear that there are some people who have even less faith in the legal system than i do.

and of course the media are saying that this whole trial should be screened live on tv. it would be a pity to go that far and then not put the whole of nz on the jury, we could all txt vote for guilty or innocent and jace gunn could peer down someone's cleavage and then announce the verdict. or better yet, let's make the judges Simon, Randy, and Paula. Who knows what Simon will make out of David's style.

Meanwhile this weekend the Plastic Kitchen are playing a 21st. I feel so down with the kids. although i'm not convinced that this birthday kid is down with the kids because he wants us to cover George Thorogood and AC/DC. Always love a bit of Acca Dacca but George? We practiced One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer the other night. the first chord change happens 4 minutes into the song - and we missed it. The other eight minutes of the song are E.

jewdi

So today's paper reported some findings from last year's NZ census.
turns out there are officially three times more Jedi than Jews in New Zealand.
I really don't know what to make of that 'fact' so i'll just say hmmm.
