singalong with the grateful ben

so, friday i played at indigo acoustic lounge. michelle bailey and kali opened with some fine fine tunes. then i got up and kali and i charged through some moldy peaches covers ('donwloading porn with davo' and 'lazy confessions'), kali's great song 'pooey' and my song 'million miles away', then pete baillie, everybody's favourite monkee, came up and we played a whole bunch of my songs, with pete adding dave gilmouresque guitaring, which changed my songs lots, but the punters seemed to be loving it. and then we played 'the das ben drinking song', and by that stage my voice was all but gone, so we got the audience singing and swinging their pints of beer, and for the first time the song was just how i meant it to be. yay.

GODSLV

so today i saw a taxi with the number GODSLV and i've wondering if its meant to mean 'GOD'S LoVe' or 'GOD SLaVe' or maybe even 'GO Da SaLiVa' - that wouldn't make much sense, so I hope it meant GODSLaVe - that would be a great metal band name. (its probably just owned by someone called Bob GODSLV). b

dasben hits myspace

so i've finally discovered the strange world of myspace. come visit here i've discovered some cool bands (highlights so far include The Romanovas from Auckland, and Bedroom Walls from USA), and i've made contact with a few people in dunedin, so hopefully we'll get some people along to dunedin gig dec 9th.
but at the same time, myspace is filled with horrible corporate ads (i seem to get a lot of ads telling me to apply for a green card), which takes away from the DIY community feel the site is supposed to have. maybe i'm being picky, but it would be nice to think that the internet can still be more ad-free than the rest of the world.
