so plastic kitchen did some recordings last night. plastic kitchen is a band i've been jamming with for a while, i'm playing bass again and loving it (except my bass died this week, so it will need some TLC), Cindy Smith on drums, and Cilla Scott on guitar and vocals. we're still rough as guts, bordering on high school garage band, but its fun to hear the improvements we make each week. we've written some songs, which certainly have the potential to get stuck in your head for a long time, and gradually we're even getting the hang of starting and stopping in the same places and knowing what each other is doing. i'm also enjoying writing songs on a bass again, and have written a new song called Dog:
You look at me like i'm the only one
but get so excited when others come along
you let me know that you wanna go out
but can i trust you when we're out and about
you're a dog, so i'll treat you like one...it ain't shakespeare, but then neither was a lot of shakespeare, and Cilla loves singing it, and her dog Finn (whose tail also acts as our metronome, which is why our timing is so 'interesting') loves us singing about him, and we're sure he's been down the road telling all his mates about it.
anyway, recording, why? good bloody question. guess we wanna hear what we sound like at this early stage, and maybe even have one or two songs good enough to give to pubs to ask for gigs. we recorded 3 songs and they're messier than my handwriting, but it was fun, and it's a start.
once cilla has added vocals and they've been mixed, maybe i'll even put a song or two online. we'll see...
